Welcome, Adventurers, to the Huntington Adventure and Treasure-Seeking Society! H.A.T.S., for short. We seek hardy souls who want to explore their own imaginations. Ever want to fight flying, fire-breathing lizards? Venture into haunted castles? Retrieve shining crowns and other artifacts? Poke an ogre with a wooden stick? Not that we recommend that last one…
H.A.T.S. is a Role-Playing Game group for playing a variety of games. Once a month we meet to play an RPG at the Main Street Game Café in Huntington to enjoy something a bit different. If you've ever wanted to play Dungeons & Dragons but weren't sure where to start, this is a great place. Each time we meet it will be a fresh story and characters, so no worry if you miss one or haven't been to one before. I will bring everything you need, so just pack your sense of adventure.
THIS MONTH: Swords Without Master
A wandering rogue is a free soul, owing fealty to no kingdom, village, or family. The drawbacks of freedom, however, is an empty purse. The buffalo woman, Neha, needs caravan guardians to escort her from the village of Kraching, in the tiger-haunted jungle, to Mr-Kr-Gr, the Death-Rolled Kingdom, the domain of the crocodile lords. And she's willing to pay well.
But the three moons have risen, and their ill-omened alignment makes them a baleful eye over the Thousand Thousand Islands. The wandering stars have ceased their strange movements and now lace the night-sky with strange shimmering strings of light. The metal skeletons of ancient ruins scrape against the heavens, looming impossibly tall. Is that the distant warning screeches of the monkey-folk I hear? Something terrible stalks the forest.
Our July game is Swords Without Master, a very narrative, rules light system, set in Zedeck Siew's "A Thousand Thousand Islands" setting, a refreshing take on non-Eurocentric fantasy settings, primarily based in Malaysian myth.
